I recently finished reading Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows and Miranda July's No One Belongs Here More Than You. Both books exceeded all expectations I had for them.
If you don't know who Miranda July is... you need to google her right now. She is an amazing artist, writer, actress, director and so much more. Her book, which I posted the cover to in the post below, was amazing. It was a collection of short stories that she wrote on a variety of topics from teaching people to swim without a pool of water to just about any other topic you can think of. I love her quirky humor, and this book had my laughing many times.
Oh Harry Potter. I can't believe you are finally over. All the theories and speculations are now over because the boy who lived, did. :) J.K. Rowling had me up and down and up and down throughout the course of the final chapter of the Harry Potter series. From the moment Hedwig was killed, to Dobby's heroic death to the final war between Voldemort, his deatheaters, and everything good I was glued to the pages. I seriously did not put the book down. Anything and everything I hoped would happen did. I went through so many emotions through this roller coaster of a book, but I am happy to say that in the end, we were taught that love truly is the greatest magic that has ever existed. I am very happy with how Rowling ended the book. We were given a glimpse of the future, but everything else is left up to our imaginations.

oh books
to the right is a list of books i am going to read over the next 1001 days. depending on how my reading goes, and if anything else gets suggested, i may switch some books around:) we'll see. i will try to update on every book i read as well - just my thoughts on what i am reading. hope you enjoy, and maybe find a book or two that you would like to read as well!
i was able to finish 4 of the books i started while i was in florida at the beach.
One of my favorites was The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. The center of this novel is John Singer a deaf-mute who is feeling abandoned after his life-long friend Antonapoulos is sent away to a distant hospital. The novel introduces us to 4 lives: a young girl named Mick who grows up in poverty; Dr. Copeland, an African-American doctor; Jake Blount a wandering alcoholic and Biff Brannon a cafe owner. We learn the loneliness and pain of each of these characters and watch as each one is drawn to the mute, John Singer. The most amazing thing to me about this book is that McCullers was only 23 when she wrote it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
Don't really know what to say about A Wrinkly In Time, other than it was one of my favorite books as a child. After reading it again, I see why:) If you have never read any of Madeline L'Engle's books, you need to stop what you are doing and go pick one up and read it now.
Dry, by Augusten Burroughs was interesting. I enjoyed Running With Scissors (memior about his childhood) more than this one, which was a memoir about his life while dealing with alcoholism. Still, I enjoy his writing. He is "dry", sarcastic and never seems to hold back when discussing his life. However, if you have a problem with reading about homosexuality, I would pass on this, and Running With Scissors.
Shopaholic & Sister by Sophia Kinsella. What can I say? I merely picked this one up because I had read the 3 previous books in the series, and it was marked down to $4.80 at Hastings. Dedfinitely a no brainer book, but sometimes I enjoy mindless entertainment :)
